St Kilda’s Palais Theatre is Australia’s No. 1 Theatre Concert Venue and one of the top ranked live entertainment venues in the world. With a capacity to seat 2896 it is the largest seated theatre in Australia and features wonderful acoustics, a large raked stage, generous dressing room facilities and spacious foyers. The Palais Theatre is suitable for all styles of events including live music, comedy, ballet, opera, plays, awards functions and children’s events.

The Palais Theatre started life as a picture theatre in 1927 and operated as such until making the transition to a live entertainment venue in the early 1950s. Just some of the bands and artists to perform at the Palais Theatre over the years are; The Rolling Stones, Tom Jones, The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, Kenny Rogers, John Farnham, Chris Isaac, Ross Noble, Jimmy Barnes, Eddie Vedder, Placebo, John Butler Trio, Hunters & Collectors, Jim Jefferies, UB40, Festival of Russian Ballet, Hi-5, The Wiggles, Catherine Tate, Grace Jones, Bob Dylan, Simply Red, Icehouse and Josh Groban.

The Palais Theatre completed its biggest renovation in May 2017 with $26 million being invested in the Venue by the State Government, Local Government and Live Nation, which has breathed new life in to this wonderful and historic art deco venue.
